Making Connections Nursery School (MCNS) is a licensed center-based program that operates eleven months of the year for nine children aged two to 4.8 years who are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. MCNS is a program of Andrew Fleck Children's Services.
MCNS provides a learning-through-play environment which focuses on meeting the individual needs of the children. The individual strengths and needs of each child are considered when developing the program plan. Our focus is to support the children to develop independent skills in self help, communication and socialization to facilitate their successful inclusion in the broader community.
Our multi-disciplinary team is made up of Early Childhood Educators who plan activities which promote the development of skills within all areas of child development including communication, socialization, cognition, fine/gross motor, self-help and behaviour. A Speech-Language Pathologist and an Occupational Therapist also provide consultative support to the program. Through a partnership with the Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre, a Behavioural Counsellor supervised by a Psychologist supports the development and ongoing monitoring of behavioural programming that is implemented by the teaching team.
Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
*The program is closed for three weeks during the month of August, between Christmas and New Year’s and the week of March Break.
**Transportation to and from the nursery school is the responsibility of the parent.
