On November 1, 2014 Andrew Fleck Children's Services (AFCS) welcomed Overbrook Child Care Centre as one of our group sites. Attached to Queen Mary Public School, 557 Queen Mary St., this program has been an important service to the community providing quality early learning and care since 1974.
We offer three programs: full day toddler program for 15 children starting at 18 months, a full-time preschool program for 24 children between the ages of 2.5 until they attend kindergarten and a school age program for children up to age 12.
Our full-time hours of care are 7:15– 5:15 PM, recognizing that the school age children attend school during the school year. During school holidays the program is offered full-time for all children.
Our programs offer a child-focused curriculum where staff and children work together to expand and develop a wide range of skills and competence based on the emergent curriculum philosophy. An emergent curriculum is one that builds upon the interests of the children. It is often spontaneous and responsive to their immediate interests; topics are driven by the ideas and questions from the children themselves.
The onsite Program Coordinator and full time teaching staff all have Early Childhood Education qualifications or a recognized equivalency, are registered with the College of ECE, and hold valid First Aid and CPR. Our staff are dedicated, professional and eager to welcome your child into our fun learning environment.
The Centre opens at 7:15 am and closes at 5:15 pm Monday to Friday.
The Centre is closed on statutory holidays.
